Sophie was diagnosed with classic autism at the young age of 3 1/2. Like many children on the autism spectrum, she struggled to express her wants and needs verbally. Imagine how hard it must be to have so much to say, yet you can't express it in words! We purchased her first iPod Touch when Sophie was 5 years old and noticed quickly her love for technology and music. With that knowledge we then purchased an iPad and a whole world opened up for Sophie. The iPad, through amazing apps made especially for children on the autism spectrum, let Sophie communicate her needs, wants, and feelings which helped her stay on a daily schedule. Seeing what a remarkable tool it became in her life, and knowing that every 1 in 68 children are identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, in 2012 we vowed to help other nonverbal children with autism find their voices as well.
